OUR STORY
Bedroom firefighting
Hi, I’m Nathan, the inventor of the Dreamfox cooling sleep mask. For years, I struggled with restless sleep when summer came around. I’d wake up overheating in the middle of the night, kicking off covers, sweating, never quite getting the deep sleep I needed. I’d start my work as a firefighter already feeling drained instead of ready to go. In the fire service, we’re trained to understand heat, how it’s transferred through conduction, convection, and radiation, and how to manage it in extreme conditions. We use cooling strategies like hydration, venting heat, and water cooling methods to stay effective. I thought to myself, I know so much about staying cool at work, surely I can find a way to do it at night?

DREAMFOX RESCUE
Beat the Heat
On my days off, I researched body temperature and sleep and tested cooling sleep masks on the market. Most relied on gel packs or beads, they felt cool at first but absorbed body heat quickly, warming and becoming uncomfortable within 10 to 30 minutes. The cooling never lasted through the night. Using what I knew about managing heat, I began making and testing my own prototypes at home. Studies suggest up to one in three people struggle with sleeping hot, yet nothing truly solved the problem. After months of refining, I came up with the dream fox mask, which uses evaporation of water to remove heat throughout the night. I hope that if you suffer from the same restless nights as I did, it can help you too.
